If any of you have had conversations with me, you know I have had a very difficult 2 and 1/2 years with Emma. When she is good, she is great. When she is bad, she is ....well extreamly bad. This child has brought me to tears almost every other day, she makes me feel as though all I do is argue with a toddler. I know, Iron sharpens Iron...so I press in rather than give up / give in. I questioned the whole routine of spanking and whether this is the most effective discipline with her, since we seem to get no where. And I have had friends encourage me to continue to Shepherd my child's heart in this manner because God's word is true, and to not trust in the rod, would be saying that I do not belive in God's word about using it...if I did not believe this, then how could I believe in the rest of God's promises about His word? So all the more I was equipped and Emma needed to be obediant, period. We had and difficult several months, (since April 07) but God is faithful and this little girl is amazing. Now, just over 3 years of age, she is quoting scripture as only she can... I will say Emma, I need to discipline you for this, and she will say, Yep, you do because God tells you to and God disciplines those that he loves, and God loves me. Well after this it is so hard to remain focused but we perservere and move on. Later, I'll randomly say, Emma I love you and she'll say, "Yep, you do".
Just within the past week as she realized that she too can share without being told and then she says, Mommy doesn't this show God's love when I share without being told.
She amazes me and I know that having had this strongwilled personality challenge my personality, we are both better off for it. Praise God we have the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ!
